The plant was built at 1939, at the time of emergence of the republic's dairy industry. In 1944, after liberation of Belarus, the butter plant continued its work. The plant at that time was located in a wooden building; butter was made in a batch-operated butter worker and later in an electrically driven butter worker. In 1960, new building with new butter production flow line (with a performance of 250 kg/h) was commissioned along with new cream separators, 5000 l/h each; new sour milk production shop for cottage cheese and casein and ice-cream production shop were built. In December 1969, cheese production shop was commissioned with a capacity of 11 tons of milk processing for cheese production and 2 tons processing for whole milk products per shift. In 1965, reconstruction of the plant was performed, and a new flow line with a capacity of 500 kg of butter per hour was installed. In 1979, new workshop for production of milk bio-replacers was commissioned, and production of skimmed milk powder started. In the middle of the 1990s - in the conditions of extremely difficult economic situation and global industrial recession - Volozhin Butter and Cheese Plant determined the goal for production development: equipment for production of semi-hard cheeses was purchased and commissioned.
In May 2009, the plant was reorganized as Volozhin Production Site of the JSC "Molodechno Dairy Plant".
Large-scale reconstruction of the plant was performed in 2006 and then later in 2010-2013. Reconstruction of the cheese production shop with replacement of equipment was performed, which made it possible to extend the range of cheeses produced from 1.5 to 2.4 thousand tons per year and expand the sales market. Equipment in the cottage cheese production shop was also replaced.
In addition to cheeses and skimmed milk powder, the plant also specializes in butter production.
